Feeling a little under the weather

My Go-To Immune Support Tea When I’m Run Down

If you’re a woman in your late 20s to 40s, you already know life doesn’t slow down just because you feel a scratch in your throat. Between work, family, hormones, stress, and trying to take care of everyone else, our immune systems can take a hit.

For the past few weeks, something has definitely been going around. Two weeks ago, I felt it creeping in. You know that feeling you wake up and your throat feels slightly scratchy, your body feels a little heavier than usual. I immediately started my usual early-response routine with echinacea tincture, thinking I caught it in time.

The next day? I was in bed feeling terrible.

Instead of just lying there frustrated, I leaned into what I teach intentional herbal immune support.

What I Did to Support My Immune System Naturally

I got into my home sauna to gently warm my body and encourage circulation. Heat can help the body mobilize when you're fighting something off, especially when paired with the right herbs.

Then I made a simple but powerful immune-supporting herbal decoction using:

  • Astragalus root

  • Burdock root

  • Ginger root

I combined equal parts of each root and simmered them in 3 cups of spring water for about 20 minutes. Because these are roots, decocting (a longer simmer) is key to pulling out their medicinal properties.

While drinking this tea throughout the day, I also added drops of our Immune Supporting Tincture to deepen the immune response. The combination of the warming decoction plus the concentrated herbal extract made a noticeable difference in how quickly I began to bounce back.

You can shop our Immune Supporting Tincture here and if you prefer sourcing your own loose herbs, I’ve also included my trusted affiliate links for quality organic astragalus, burdock, and ginger. You can make this recipe at home by purchasing herbs from here or here!

Why These Herbs?

I’m very intentional about herb selection, especially for women balancing stress, hormones, and full schedules.

Astragalus (Immune & Energy Support)

Astragalus is one of my favorite herbs for low immunity and depletion. It’s considered an adaptogenic immune tonic meaning it doesn’t just “stimulate” the immune system; it helps regulate and strengthen it over time. It’s also incredibly supportive when you feel run down or exhausted.

Burdock Root (Blood & Liver Support)

Burdock is deeply nutritive and cleansing. When you’re sick, your body is processing inflammation and waste. Burdock supports the liver and lymphatic system helping the body clear what it no longer needs. For women, this herb is especially supportive because healthy detox pathways also support hormonal balance.

Ginger (Warming & Circulatory Support)

Ginger brings warmth to the body. If you’re experiencing chills, congestion, or sluggish digestion while sick, ginger helps move things along. It supports circulation, digestion, and is a classic herb for cold and flu symptoms.

Together, this trio creates a balanced, warming immune support tea that nourishes while helping the body recover.

Nutrition Matters When You're Sick

One of the most important pieces of immune health especially for women juggling stress is what you don’t eat.

When I’m under the weather, I immediately cut:

  • Refined sugars

  • Processed foods

  • Heavy dairy

  • Excess caffeine

Sugar in particular can suppress immune response and “feed” inflammation.

Instead, I focused on:

  • Warming soups

  • Mineral-rich broths

  • Light raw foods

  • Hydration

  • Herbal teas throughout the day

Immune support isn’t just about one herb it’s about reducing the burden on your body so it can do what it was designed to do.

Gentle Reminder for Women

If you’re constantly run down in your 20s, 30s, or 40s, that’s not something to ignore. Chronic stress, poor sleep, blood sugar swings, and hormonal imbalances can all impact immune resilience.

Building immune strength is not about waiting until you're sick. It’s about daily herbal immune support, nourishing foods, stress management, and supporting your nervous system.

That’s why I regularly rotate immune-supportive teas and keep our Immune Supporting Tincture on hand especially during seasonal shifts.

If you’d like to recreate this immune-support tea at home, check the affiliate links for the herbs I trust. And if you want something ready-made and formulated intentionally, you can shop our Immune Supporting Tincture directly through our link.

Your body is wise. Sometimes it just needs warmth, nourishment, and the right herbal support to recover well.

Stay well and take care of yourself first
