Calendula: The Herb That Restores and Protects the Skin

Hey girl hey,

If there’s one herb that feels like gold for the skin…it’s calendula.

Soft, bright, and gentle—yet incredibly powerful in how it supports healing, movement, and repair.

Let’s get into her.

Calendula officinalis: is a vibrant orange flower long used in herbal medicine for skin healing and lymphatic support.

This is the herb that shows up when the skin is:

  • Irritated

  • Inflamed

  • Damaged

  • In need of gentle restoration

Calendula supports:

  • Wound healing + tissue repair

  • Inflammation reduction

  • Lymphatic movement

  • Barrier support

It doesn’t force the skin to change.

It creates the environment for the skin to heal itself.

Calendula is most often used externally for the skin. You can use her in infused oils to make a balm or salve. You can use her to make a herbal tea and you can use her to soothe your skin in a nice warm bath or a warming compress.

Infused oil:

  • Fill a jar halfway with dried calendula flowers

  • Cover completely with a carrier oil (like olive or sunflower)

  • Let sit for 2–4 weeks

  • Strain and store

Use the oil for:

  • Dry or irritated skin

  • Minor cuts and scrapes

  • Gentle daily moisturizing

Herbal tea:

  • Add 1–2 teaspoons dried petals to hot water

  • Steep 10–15 minutes

  • Strain and drink

Calendula teaches us:

Healing doesn’t have to be aggressive.

Sometimes it looks like softness, warmth, and consistent care.

I definitely have her in my apothecary and I would advise you to add her as well friend.
